LETS EAT...
It's not gourmet and it's not known as a fine dining restaurant, but the Blue Marlin on the corner of Pitney and Great Creek Roads has some really good food. The restaurant replaced the old Pitney Tavern. They added several TV screens and made it into a sports bar.
Renee and I stopped off there fo lunch one day, just to see what it was like. The prices on the menu are really very low, hamburgers for $4 (extra toppings cost more), a chicken sandwich for $6 and so forth.
Sometimes I am a glutton for punishment and I ordered an appetizer size portion of mussels' scampi. They were simply outstanding. The mussels were fresh, the sauce delicious and the bread for dunking, perfect. I went back again and this time tried the red sauce version and it too was excellent.
